round_hoop_carbon.jpgSteve PyattYou can get carbon ones from any windsurfing shop. they are boom ends from adjustable booms. I got one from my local shop here in NZ for $10 and now half the fleet of Zephyrs have them as shop shops even give away the 2nd hand ones. Very strong and just the right shape. Why is an NZ Zephyr sailor on your site?...Just checking up on my old class from the 1970s! Best Wishes, Steve Pyatt23 February 2010

strongback_purchase.jpgMagsA 3:1 and a cleat lock the strongback to the trailer. This is better than just using a strap, as it cannot compress the boat (the bar keeps the tension downwards, not inwards).03 February 2010

strongback_deckplate.jpgMagsMoulded fibreglass pad fits the gunwhale nicely, and protects the boat from the strap which leads down to the trailer.03 February 2010

bow_plate1.jpgMagsHeres how to clamp the bow down onto the trailer with a padded firbreglass plate. Better than tying your painter on with a series of knots!03 February 2010

sheerline_measurement.jpgRod & Jo ScepticalThe deluxe version is made of 10mm ply with the upper part extending to the left beyond the shearline, and a hole drilled through along the latter, just big enough to jam a pencil in!

buoyancy_via_milk_cartons.jpgRod & Jo ScepticalWhen I first acquired my OK Dinghy, the historic BEL-1, the front compartments were FULL of empty spa water bottles; the noise when roll tacking was enough to put off the other competitors!23 January 2010

ghost_rider_perhaps5.jpgChris MThis is what makes me think its either an amateur build, built by a non-leading builder, or a modification. Was Kingsize a Ghost Rider mod?06 January 2010

robert_harris.jpgRobert HarrisI spent 20 years away from sailing flying gliders. This one has an engine which pops up behind the pilot when you run out of lift.

During the same period Phil Morrison has become a skilled glider pilot.

merlin_no2_side.jpgGarry RThe jib fairleads too would have been more aft than here and I suspect that the jib has been replaced - the original cotton jibs had a very high cut foot.01 October 2009

dilly_in_1949.jpgpatrick websterHi there, My apologies to Phill who purchased 2089 (less its transom cart rig!)from me in the early 80s.Phills Professional spray lacquer/varnish treatment brought the woods debth to life. The boat had many admirers the previous summer at Abersoch, where my brother and I tried to use it for fishing, capsizing in a school of mackerel, we caught a few, and one remained behind a boyancy bag for a couple of days! I really loved that boat and was forced to sell it. I hope this wonderfull example of an early rocket, pre ghost rider resplendant, curvaceous clinker, fordeck silky smooth. a piece of timber poetry is still on the water. any info photos would be fantastic. Ps. Sorry Phill 31 July 2009
